The Yarra Valley is renowned for producing red wines of restraint and finesse. Our temperate climate allows full flavour and colour development without excessive ripeness, resulting in wines that are balanced and subtle.
Cabernet Franc 85%, Cabernet Sauvignon 15%
Warm and dry with an extended Indian summer that allowed the grapes to obtain a higher level of ripeness than usual. Crop level was low due to the dry conditions.
Grapes from our old vine blocks were hand-picked, destemmed and crushed to small open fermenters with a short period of cold-soaking before fermentation. Gentle cap management and some extended maceration on skins gave supple, complex tannin profiles. Matured in new and one-year old French oak prior to bottling in August 2014.

Brooding, dark fruit profile with an inky, graphite-like note from the time on skins.
A true “vin de garde”, this wine does not reveal itself easily in its youth. Ripe fruit flavours merge with toasted oak in a restrained manner now but some years in the cellar will allow the wine to blossom and show its true colours.
