The Yarra Valley is renowned for producing red wines of restraint and finesse. The temperate climate allows full flavour and colour development without excessive ripeness, resulting in wines that are balanced and subtle.
Cabernet Sauvignon 55%, Cabernet Franc 20 %, Merlot 25%
Merlot 9 March, Cabernet Sauvignon 27 March and 3 April, Cabernet Franc 3 April.
Our Bordeaux varieties were able to be harvested in excellent condition due to the extended warm and dry weather leading into Autumn.
Hand-picked, destemmed and crushed to small open fermenters. Fermentation was completed in 7-10 days and the individual parcels were pressed and matured in barrels for 18 months prior to blending.
Alcohol: 13.5% pH: 3.50 T/A: 6.4 g/l
Medium ruby, retaining youthful hue.
Aromas of red fruits, plums and spicy oak. Quite restrained in its youth but we expect the bouquet will develop depth and interest as the wine matures.
The palate is very much in the Squitchy Lane style—sleek, harmonious, supple and spicy. Medium-bodied, the wine shows classical Cabernet structure that is softened by the Merlot.
Great cellaring potential. We suggest five to ten years.
