New Release Estate Pinot Noir 2021

Release of the 2021 Estate Pinot Noir

We are very pleased that our new vintage of the Estate Pinot Noir has been released. 2021 was a very good in the Yarra Valley that was characterised by rain in January, followed by a mild summer. The cool growing season proved ideal for the development of perfumed, ethereal flavours, along with good acid levels.

Here are some of the reviews that the 2021 Estate Pinot Noir has received.

Jeni Port, Wine Pilot

“It took a glass of this Yarra Valley Pinot just to simply enjoy before I actually made some notes. That’s always a VERY good sign of a scrumptious, delicious wine. The gorgeous, cherry bright fruit will steal the heart and the tastebuds. Upfront in red cherries, cranberry, pomegranate, iris florals and glacé fruit. A few rose petal notes dot the middle palate, a delicate floral interlude, on a supple textured wine that exudes energy-plus. Sweet fruited, lively and charming it’s good to go right now. Can you age it? You could try. I suspect it will have the same effect on all that it had on me.” 93/100

Nicole Bilson, Wine Pilot

“Heady aromas of fresh strawberries and homemade raspberry jam, erupt from the glass. Wait a few moments and they become more sultry – red liquorice, pomegranate, fennel seeds and red earth. Beautifully savoury on the palate with tangy redcurrants, rhubarb and roast meat jus. The tannins are chalky and just slightly chewy, suggestive of the 10% whole bunch fermentation. Bright, well-integrated acidity leads to an earthy pomegranate seed rasp on the finish. Pair with mushroom and quail risotto. Drink 2024 to 2030” 92/100

I like this. Hello to a savoury and meaty Pinot Noir courtesy of the Yarra Valley’s Squitchy Lane. 10% whole bunches were used before seeing French oak for 11 months (30% new). Those who love clone detail would be pleased to know that this is a blend of MV6 and 114 (85/15) planted on their own rootstock in 1982.

Some flex and muscle through the mid-palate draw my attention. Smoked meats, pan juices and char build interest with dark cherries and red plums fleshing out the fruit profile. The tension is evident with a fine dusting of dried herbs adding further detail. It sits on the robust side of the Pinot spectrum and drinks wonderfully now but time will be its friend too.
